Over 90,000 Los Angeles students have experienced our life-changing Alive Music Project.

GMCLA IN THE SCHOOLS

GMCLA provides support and inspiration through our ALIVE MUSIC PROJECT (AMP) program in Los Angeles high schools. Reaching over 90,000 students in Southern California since its inception, AMP includes in-school choral performances, music education, anti-bullying and the sharing of important and impactful stories from our diverse Chorus members. Last season, GMCLA brought the ALIVE MUSIC PROJECT to another seven schools in Los Angeles County, including John Muir Middle School, Culver City High School, John Burroughs High School, Viewpoint High School, Daniel Pearl Magnet High School, Cesar E. Chavez Learning Academies ArTES Magnet School, and Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences. GMCLA also expanded the AMP mission this year, producing our first-ever High School Choral Festival, which invited students from five schools (Eastside High School , Lancaster High School, Palisades Charter High School, Palmdale High School, and Mira Costa High School) to a daylong rehearsal intensive with our Music Director, Dr. Ernest H. Harrison, and to sing a concert with GMCLA members.

GMCLA IN THE COMMUNITY

Last season was one of our most impactful and active seasons working in the community yet to spread our musical message of love, hope, and acceptance for all people. GMCLA performed at the LA Kings Pride Night, First Congregational Church’s “Fulfilling the Dream” MLK Day Concert, and produced GMCLA’s first-ever Community Sing-in at First United Methodist Church in Pasadena, partnering with four choral groups for a one-of-a-kind community event. During Pride Month, GMCLA brought our music to a free concert in Plummer Park, the West Hollywood and LA Pride Parades, Walt Disney’s and Paramount’s Pride staff celebrations, Fairmont Century Plaza’s Pride concert, First Congregational Church’s Pride service, Mayor Bass’s Pride celebration at the Getty House, iHeart Radio’s Can’t Cancel Pride TV special, and a special video performance installation running all month long at the Getty Center. By making a donation, you can contribute to this important work so we can do even MORE in 2025!

Over 10,000 people enjoyed seeing GMCLA perform at our more than 30 free community events this past season.
