IMG_8251The day so many of us have been waiting for is here. For over 36 years, the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles has been bringing people together and serving as a voice for equality. This victory belongs to every openly LGBT person. Each of us who came out, broke down barriers and transformed the hearts and minds of our families, friends and co-workers.

The Supreme Court’s historic ruling means same-sex couples will soon have the freedom to marry and have their marriages recognized across our entire country. June 26, is a day that will stand out forever as a day of victory in the LGBT civil rights movement. On this very day in 2003, the Supreme Court struck down state laws that made lesbian and gay people criminals for having private intimate relationships in Lawrence v. Texas. And two years ago on this day, the Supreme Court issued its historic ruling in U.S. v. Windsor and Californians were once again given the right to marry.

Today is an enormous win in our civil rights journey toward full equality. Today, we sing loud and proud.

Today, it just got a whole lot better.

Yours in celebration,
